President Obama announced an executive order increasing the minimum wage for future federal contract employees during the State of the Union Tuesday night.

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison has previously pushed for the increase.

"You know, folks, activism works," Ellison said Tuesday. "This is a testimony to how much it means for people who work hard to appeal to their government, to rely on their constitutional right to address grievances ... to peacefully assemble and to make change."

Ellison joins The Daily Circuit to discuss the announcement.
