North St. Paul apartment evacuated after shooting

Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting early Sunday morning that sent a woman to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Authorities say the woman was shot in the leg just after 4:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in North St. Paul.

The shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, said Police Captain Dustin Nikituk.

He said investigators are trying to learn more about the shooter.

"They're still trying to go through the apartment building there and figure out what exactly happened. Things are in disarray, and they're just trying to put the pieces together and get us some suspect information," he said.

Nikituk said the suspect likely fled the area.

Residents of the apartment complex waited in a bus while a SWAT team confirmed the suspect was no longer inside.
