BCA: Couple fatally shot after chase had knife

Authorities say a couple had a knife when they were fatally shot in an officer-involved shooting after a police chase on a major Twin Cities highway last week.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the driver, 36-year-old Matthew Vincent Serbus, and his passenger, 34-year-old Dawn Marie Pfister, emerged from the red Saab after crashing just before 8 a.m. Friday on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie.

Officers fired at Serbus after he produced a knife and ignored officers' repeated commands to drop the weapon. Pfister then took the knife and was also shot.

The BCA also identified the four officers involved in the shooting. They are Chaska Police Sgt. Brady Juell and Chaska Police Officer Trent Wurtz, Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Mark Lund and Carver County sheriff's Cpl. Nathan Mueller.
