Memorial for Savage woman after crosswalk death

Dozens of people gathered near a Minneapolis crosswalk to remember the woman recently struck and killed by a truck and to call for action on making the intersection safer.

KMSP-TV reports about 75 to 100 people turned out Monday night for a vigil near the Lake Calhoun intersection where 25-year-old Caitlin Barton lost her life. She was crossing the street last week when she was hit by a delivery truck and dragged about 25 feet.

The West Calhoun Neighborhood Council has been discussing ways to make the hectic intersection safer. As Barton's friends and others left candles on the corner following the memorial, they agreed that making the intersection safer for everyone is the best way to remember her.
