St. Paul winter parking ban starts this weekend

A St. Paul winter parking ban will go into effect starting Saturday.

The city says snowbanks have grown so large that there's not enough room for emergency vehicles to squeeze down some of the streets.

On residential streets, parking will only be allowed on the odd-numbered side. Parking will still be allowed on both sides of commercial streets, which are wider.

Although the parking ban goes into effect this weekend, the city won't start ticketing and towing vehicles until Monday.

Winter parking restrictions took effect in Minneapolis earlier this week. No parking is allowed on the even-numbered side of non-snow emergency routes and stretches of Bryant and Grand Aves.
