10 with Minn. ties on new list of accused priests

A Catholic religious order with a presence in Minnesota has released a new list of clerics who were credibly accused of sexually abusing minors.

The Crosiers have made public the names of 11 priests and brothers who'd been accused of abuse. All are either deceased or no longer with the order. Ten of the 11 either served in Minnesota parishes, or at the Crosier seminary in Onamia, Minn.

Victims' attorney Jeff Anderson says the Crosiers released the list without the threat of a lawsuit.

"In contrast to the Catholic bishops, the Crosiers as a religious order of men have really been ahead of the pack in terms of exposure and disclosure, and for that I give them credit," Anderson said. "They did it without direct pressure from us, and I think they did it because they saw which way the wind was blowing on this issue, and they stepped up."

The order released a similar list of eight other clerics in 2002.

Crosier Prior Provincial Thomas Enneking said in a statement that he hopes the release of the list will bring peace and comfort to abuse victims.
