Election Day for 1,100 Minnesota townships

Today is Election Day for more than 1,100 townships across the state.

Five counties are also holding special elections today. Four school building bonds are on the ballot:

• Shakopee: Voters will decide if Shakopee's school board should be able to issue up to $89 million in school building bonds for improving school district land and buildings. The bonds would allow the district to build a new high school.

• Jordan: Voters will decide on a $29.45 million bond referendum that would allow the school district to remodel Jordan Middle School. They'll also be asked to consider adding "a community education and recreation center" to the middle school site. [Voter information from Jordan Public Schools.]

• Byron: Voters in Dodge and Olmsted counties who reside in the Byron school district will decide on a $25.3 million bond that would allow the district to start construction on a new school building for students in preschool to second grade. [Voter information from Byron Public Schools.]

• Grand Meadow: Mower Co. voters are being asked to approve a $13.8 million construction project that would add a new gym, classrooms and fine arts spaces to the district's current complex. [Voter information from Grand Meadow Public Schools.]
