Car strikes Metro Transit bus in Minneapolis; 3 taken to hospital

Three people were hurt in a bus crash in south Minneapolis this morning when a car on Blaisdell Avenue struck a westbound bus on 24th Street just after 8 a.m.

Two bus riders and the car driver were taken to area hospitals. They were all conscious and breathing, Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland said.

The car driver's ran a red light and struck the bus near the back door, which caused the bus to veer across the street and into a boulevard tree, he said.

Metro Transit police cited the car's driver for not stopping for the red light. The bus driver got routine drug and alcohol testing, and both the bus and the car had to be towed away from the scene of the crash.
