Court strikes down a campaign finance limit

The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down the limits on overall contributions from individual donors to candidates for federal offices.

The amount any individual may give to a particular candidate remains capped at $2,600. But the cumulative limit of $48,600 every two years has been thrown out as a violation of First Amendment rights.

We speak with an attorney about the decision and its likely effect.
