State minimum wage hike deal may be close
Minnesota legislative leaders appear to have reached a deal to raise the state's minimum wage.
No details have been announced, but top lawmakers called a news conference for Monday morning to discuss an agreement.
The minimum wage has been one of the more difficult issues so far this session. Legislators had generally agreed in principle to push the hourly wage to $9.50 by 2016 in a series of steps.
But they've disagreed over a House plan to tie future increases to inflation. Senators balked at that.
Minnesota's current minimum is $6.15 for large employers. It hasn't gone up since 2005.
