HCMC reopen after lockdown

The Hennepin County Medical Center has reopened after it went into an emergency lockdown late Saturday morning.

Police were called to the hospital in downtown Minneapolis shortly after 11 a.m. after two people got in a dispute and one of them claimed to have a gun, said Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder.

Hospital staff went into a lockdown for about an hour and a half, during which time only people with emergency medical conditions are allowed to enter.

Police conducted a systematic search of the medical center and did not locate the person who claimed to have the gun, or any weapons, Elder said.

The hospital reopened around 12:30 in the afternoon.
