Mid-April snow greets morning commuters

Southeastern Minnesota is getting a blast of winter weather this morning, making travel difficult in some areas.

The National Weather Service in LaCrosse says there's light snow falling in the area this morning, with accumulations up to 4 inches in the region. Overnight snowfalls have been reported in Winona, Preston and Rochester.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says roads south and east of Rochester are in difficult driving condition, and that includes Interstate 90 from south of Rochester to the state line. Wisconsin's department of transportation says I-90 is snow covered east of LaCrosse.

I-94 is also listed as slippery through much of central Wisconsin this morning, where the heaviest snow has fallen. But more snow is expected for central Minnesota, from Moorhead to St. Cloud and Duluth on Wednesday.
