Minneapolis police say they have arrested a man in connection with the death of a pedestrian Friday night in north Minneapolis who was struck by a van.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Charles Lord, 65, of Minneapolis, died of blunt force injuries after he was struck by the van. Witnesses told Minneapolis police the van went up onto the sidewalk, struck Lord and dragged him for a short distance near the intersection of West Broadway and Logan Avenue North at about 10 p.m.

When officers arrived, the victim had severe injuries and was being tended to by witnesses. He was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he died from his injuries, police said.

Witnesses told Minneapolis police the driver ran away. A 32-year-old suspect was arrested late Saturday morning and is in jail awaiting charges.
