Andersen Corp. plans an $18 million expansion that will create 100 full-time jobs at the window and door maker's manufacturing plant in Bayport.

The new positions will pay an average of $19 an hour, including benefits, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development said in statement Wednesday.

DEED will award Andersen $625,000 from the state's Job Creation Fund if the company meets certain goals related to number of jobs created and associated wages.

To be eligible for financial assistance under the Job Creation Fund, businesses must create at least 10 full-time jobs and invest at least $500,000.

Andersen said it plans to renovate an existing building at the complex and buy new machinery.

The company is seeing strength in the home improvement part of its business, which represents about two-thirds of the company's sales, said CEO Jay Lund.

"When people opt to stay in their homes, but their home values are rising, credit conditions are improving, they begin to reinvest at a higher rate," he said. "We're now beginning to see more of that in our business."
