Public works bill front and center this week at Capitol

Democrats in the Minnesota Senate will unveil a $1 billion package of public construction projects today that they want to fund with a combination of bonding and surplus cash.

The passage of a bonding bill is one of the big tasks lawmakers need to complete in the final two weeks of the session. They also need to finalize a spending bill and a tax-cut bill. In addition, the House and Senate are moving closer to votes on medical marijuana.

MPR News' Morning Edition spoke with Minnesota Public Radio's Tim Pugmire, who covers the Capitol.
