Austin, Minn. teen is a Youtube sensation
The Minnesota Lynx have invited Molly Kate Kestner to sing the national anthem before their first WNBA pre-season game of the year tonight at Target Center.
Kestner is not a professional musician. She's a high school student in Austin, Minnesota. On April 20, she posted a video on YouTube of herself playing the piano and singing a song she wrote called "His Daughter." Kestner's emotive performance struck a chord with folks. The video has now been seen over 4.2 million times.
In a post on her Facebook page, Kestner said that "His Daughter" is her favorite composition. She wrote it over a year ago but waited to debut it until after her final senior solo. "I hope you are as inspired as I was when I wrote this," she said in the post.
Her hopes seem to have come to fruition. One YouTube user commented: "Whether or not there's a god out there, we're all out here, and we can hear your beautiful singing, and we're all stunned."
