Call about gun at St. Paul school a 'false alarm'

A call about an intruder with a gun at a St. Paul school Wednesday afternoon was a hoax, officials say.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Paulos says police responded to Parkway Middle School just before 2 p.m. following a single phone call.

He says the school was put on lockdown while officers checked the building.

"It was indeed a false alarm," St. Paul Public Schools spokeswoman Toya Stewart Downey said in a statement.

The lockdown took time to lift, she said, delaying the dismissal of the school day.
