Man injured in Mankato assault is improving

Isaac Kolstad, the former college football player who was critically injured during a fight in Mankato earlier this month, is improving.

Kolstad is in a coma after he was allegedly beaten by former University of Minnesota quarterback Phillip Nelson and another man, who have been charged with assault.

Mike Fleming wrote a post on Kolstad's Caring Bridge page late Saturday saying Kolstad was taken off life support and is breathing on his own.

More than $65,000 has been raised online to help financially support Kolstad and his family.
