Drowned boy's body pulled from Mississippi

Authorities have recovered the body of a young teen from the Mississippi River near St. Paul while a second search is expected to resume in Chisago County for a missing man presumed drowned in the St. Croix River.

Washington County sheriff's officials were called to Lions Levee Park in St. Paul Park about 5 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say a 14-year-old boy was trying to retrieve a stick when he went under water and disappeared. WCCO-TV reports the boy's body was found about 1:30 a.m. Monday.

In Chisago County, sheriff's officials say a 21-year-old Coon Rapids man and his 11-year-old nephew were fishing in Taylors Falls when the boy fell into the river. The uncle and a bystander jumped in to rescue the boy. The bystander managed to get the boy to shore. A search for the uncle is expected to resume Monday morning.

Meanwhile, authorities have identified a man who drowned in the Peshtigo River flowage in Marinette County.

Twenty-year-old Michael Two Rivers-Broeffle was swimming with two other men Saturday when he went under water near the Caldron Falls dam and disappeared.

Wisconsin Public Service dam operators lowered the water level to aid in the search for the man. Press-Gazette Media says divers recovered his body Saturday night.
