Body of Coon Rapids man recovered from St. Croix

Chisago County authorities say they've recovered the body of missing 21-year-old Coon Rapids man from the St. Croix River.

The sheriff's office found the body of Tou Hu Vang in the river shortly before 10 a.m. today. Vang was with his nephew on the river near Taylors Falls on Sunday when the 11-year-old fell in. Vang tried to save him but disappeared into the water. Another bystander jumped in and saved the boy, but Vang couldn't be found.

Crews have been searching the river for much of the week, looking for Vang's body.

Vang was one of two people who drowned in high, fast-running rivers over the Memorial Day holiday. The other was a 14-year-old boy who fell into the Mississippi while trying to retrieve a stick.
