Former President Bill Clinton spoke at a University of Minnesota event to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and US Senator Hubert Humphrey's leading role in its passage. Bill Clinton said we must continue the founders' plan for "a more perfect union" by expanding our sense of community and realizing that our differences don't matter as much as our common humanity. He added that our cooperative instincts must prevail.
