Minneapolis teacher accused of stalking student

A Minneapolis public school teacher is accused of stalking a female student and trying to get her to have a sexual relationship with him.

Forty-six-year-old Dan Arlen Anderson of Oakdale is charged in Hennepin County with attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct and stalking a victim under 18.

Anderson taught at Minneapolis South High School. According to the complaint, a student reported to Minneapolis police in May that Anderson was trying to get her to have sex with him.

Prosecutors say Anderson told an investigator he asked for the student's phone number and sent her a dozen text messages.

Anderson is due back in court July 31. His attorney had no comment.

Minneapolis Public Schools say Anderson was immediately placed on leave when the district learned of the allegations. The teacher no longer works for the district.
