Car2Go will launch its car sharing service July 19 in St. Paul.

The St. Paul City Council approved a deal with Car2Go last month to allow 185 of the company's SmartCars to be parked on city streets.

The service will also rebrand from Car2Go Minneapolis to Car2Go Twin Cities, said Josh Johnson, the company's local manager.

Car2Go launched its Minneapolis service in September. The car-sharing service, which charges drivers 38 cents per minute, will now have 535 vehicles that can be used in either city.

Car2Go will pay St. Paul $975 per car annually, which covers the parking spots taken by the vehicles, as well as administrative fees.

There are two other car-sharing services in the Twin Cities, Zipcar and Hourcar. Those vehicles are parked at specific spots. Car2Go allows customers to park its vehicles in most public parking spots, including non-restricted meters.
