Where's your Rainbow? Maybe it's a Cub now

Twin Cities residents may notice their local Rainbow grocery stores are starting to change hands. Three former Rainbow stores -- in Uptown Minneapolis, St. Paul, and St. Louis Park -- re-open today as Cub Foods.

Earlier this year, Milwaukee-based Roundy's announced it was leaving the market and selling 18 Rainbow stores. Those stores went to Supervalu, Lund Food Holdings, and other local buyers.

For a look at how the grocery store landscape is changing in the Twin Cities and across the country, MPR's Phil Picardi spoke with Jennifer Bartashus, an analyst for Bloomberg Industries who covers the supermarket and convenience store industries.
