Triple shooting in Minneapolis follows police chief's visit

Police are looking for suspects in a shooting that seriously injured three women in north Minneapolis.

The shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. The women were taken to North Memorial Medical Center where police say they are in serious condition.

The shooting comes just a day after Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau and Mayor Betsy Hodges visited several neighborhoods hit hard by recent violence.

Two people were killed and at least three injured by gunfire over the July Fourth weekend.

The homicides are the 15th and 16th committed in the city so far this year. In north Minneapolis, reports of shootings are up nearly 50 percent over this same period last year.
