For this week's Screen Time, Cube Critic Euan Kerr follows Kerri's interview with David Epstein on his book "The Sports Gene." There have been many movies made about sports: some great, but the majority even more formulaic than a romantic comedy.

"Victory" (1981)
John Houston film about a group of Allied prisoners of war who are forced to play against a German elite soccer team is what the Nazis expect will be a propaganda victory. Starring actors Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone and Max Von Sydow, it also has significant roles played by world class players Pele, Bobby Moore and Osvaldo Ardiles

"Chariots of Fire"(1981)
Hugh Hudson's classic film about Olympic runners preparing for the 1924 Olympics.

"A Sunday in Hell" (1976)
An enthralling documentary about the 1976 Paris-Roubais cycle race, the latter half which takes place on cobblestones. It has been described as arguably the best cycling movie ever made.

"Breaking Away" (1979)
Peter Yates' film about a group of kids from Bloomington, Ind. who refuse to grow up, and one who decided he had better become Italian if he's going to be a great cycle racer.

"Pelada" (2010)
A documentary about two US college soccer players, a man and a woman, who travel to 25 countries to find pick-up games in parks, alleys, and in once case prison.

"Personal Best" (1982)
A Robert Towne film about a young athlete (Mariel Hemingway) who falls in love with her mentor Tory, but then finds she has to compete with her for a spot on the US Olympic team.

"The World's Fastest Indian" (2005)
Anthony Hopkins plays Burt Munro who in 1967 took a rebuilt Indian motorcycle to the Utah Salt Flats to break the world speed record.

"The Quiet Man" (1952)
John Ford's epic romantic comedy, which is really about boxing.

"Remembering Eric" (2009)
A suicidal mail carrier is visited by the spirit of his sporting idol, Eric Cantona, the great French soccer player. What's remarkable is Cantona isn't dead, and he plays himself in this wry ken Loach comedy.
