Wisconsin is one of many states rethinking the use of solitary confinement.

The Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism put a spotlight on the issue recently when it published an investigation that found allegations of staff-on-inmate abuse in the segregation unit of Waupun Correctional Institution, a maximum security prison about 55 miles northeast of Madison.

The report comes amid a growing national debate about the use of solitary confinement. Other states, including Colorado, have taken steps to reduce the number of people in isolation.

On The Daily Circuit, we get the latest on solitary confinement in Wisconsin, Minnesota and nationwide.
