Man drowns on return swim across St. Croix

A 28-year-old man drowned while swimming across the St. Croix River Saturday evening.

The victim, who has not been identified, swam across the river but had difficulty swimming on his way back, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.

A 911 caller reported the man had gone under and not resurfaced. He drowned near the Frandsen Landing on the river, east of Rush City.

His body was located around 9 p.m.
