The Minnesota Vikings are hoping that defensive tackle Linval Joseph will be ready to play by the regular season opener on September 7.

Joseph was one of nine people shot inside a Minneapolis nightclub after Friday night's exhibition game against Oakland. The Vikings won that game 10-6.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Howard Sinker, a digital sports editor for the Star Tribune, about the situation with Joseph and what the Vikings first preseason game revealed about the team.
