3 counties, tribal government added to spring storm aid list

Federal officials have agreed to add three Minnesota counties and one tribal government to a federal disaster declaration tied to storms and flooding that hit the state in mid-June.

The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa in Koochiching County, along with Lyon, Watonwan and Wright counties are now among 35 counties and three tribal governments eligible for federal and state aid to recover from damages to roads and other public infrastructure from storms, mudslides and flooding from June 11 to July 11, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said Thursday.

Minnesota's congressional delegation continues to press the White House to also make Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota counties eligible for disaster aid.

Roughly $30 million in eligible expenses have been identified in counties applying for aid.
