Next week, Author Eddy Harris plans to start a second trip down the entire length of the Mississippi River.

Harris is the author of "Mississippi Solo," a book about his canoe journey down the river in 1985. That account was part travel writing, part memoir - and like many of Harris' later books, it took on the question of what it means to be black.

Harris is also the author of "Native Stranger" and "Still Life in Harlem," which was named a New York Times Book Review notable book of 1997. He now lives in France.

Harris joins The Daily Circuit ahead of his trip.
