Driver who struck, killed bicyclist not prosecuted

The Minnehaha County State's Attorney's office has determined that the woman who drove over and killed a Sioux Falls bicyclist a month ago won't be prosecuted because she did not violate any state law.

Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens on Monday said city attorneys determined that two citations against 26-year-old Terra Zahn were appropriate.

Zahn has been cited for failure to use due caution and failure to yield from a private driveway.

Zahn was pulling out of a parking lot when she struck 22-year-old Natasha Adams on July 16. Zahn told police she never saw Adams cycling down the sidewalk.

Police said Zahn was looking left as she waited to turn right. Zahn accelerated when she saw a break in traffic, but didn't realize Adams was coming from the right.
