Drifting driver hits 11-year-old boy
An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car on Thursday night in North Branch.
Police said the boy was walking with his father on Fill Avenue when a car drifted across the roadway and struck him shortly after 8 p.m.
North Branch Police Chief Dan Meyer said the boy was on the shoulder of the road because there's no sidewalk along that section of the street.
The driver was a 46-year-old female. Her identity hasn't been being released.
"We don't have any reason to think that there's any impairment, but our investigation is ongoing," Meyer said.
The boy was airlifted to Regions Hospital and is currently in critical condition at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul.
