Authorities ID woman killed by Green Line train

Authorities have identified the woman struck and killed by a Green Line light rail train on Sunday morning.

Shana Buchanan, 42, was hit when crossing the tracks near the Westgate Station in Minneapolis. Metro Transit Police and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office are investigating the death.

It was the first fatality on the line that opened in June, although there have been a number of vehicle crashes and another pedestrian injured.

Buchanan was a Twin Cities attorney who was barred from practicing law by the Minnesota Supreme Court last year after a finding that she was suffering from serious mental illness.
