State Fair robbers take $10K in craft beer cash

Armed robbers tied up employees and stole more than $10,000 from the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild's exhibit at the Minnesota State Fair late Friday night. Fair police said it was the first armed robbery of a vendor in Minnesota State Fair history.

Police spokesperson Brooke Blakey said the robbery was reported shortly after 11 p.m. She said neither of the two employees working at the guild were injured in the incident, which took less than 10 minutes.

Police aren't saying what sort of weapon was used in the robbery. Blakey said the area around the guild contains many security cameras and that police have several suspects.

"We're working all angles of this robbery and all the information we can get together," Blakey said. "We are utilizing all our resources to do that."

The Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild's "Land of 10,000 Beers' Craft Beer Hall" exhibit sold flights of beer from dozens of Minnesota brewers. This was the third year the guild has hosted the exhibit at the fair.
