War brides from across the country are uniting in St. Paul this week.  

The women, who married American servicemen who served abroad during World War II, are in town for the World War II War Brides Association's annual meeting.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Duluth, Minn., resident Irene Maio, 89, who is attending this year's gathering. Maio moved to Minnesota from London after marrying her husband in 1945.

War Brides from across the country are uniting in St. Paul this week.  The women married American servicemen who served abroad during World War II.  They're in town for the annual reunion of the World War II War Brides Association. MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Irene Maio, who is nearing 90, but made the trip down from Duluth for the reunion.  She moved to Minnesota from London after marrying an American G.I. in 1945.
