Pedestrian struck by minivan in Minneapolis

A woman who appeared to be running to catch a bus was hit by a minivan Sunday morning on the 2900 block of Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Police Spokesman John Elder said the accident occurred just before 11 a.m. as the woman crossed the street at the middle of the block.

"The adult female victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with very serious injuries. The driver is cooperating with police. Preliminarily there's no indication that speed or alcohol were a factor in this crash," he said.

Elder said the driver of the van stopped to render aid. Police, fire and ambulance responded to the scene.
