Voters in Scotland will decide today whether to become independent, in a referendum that could break up the centuries-old United Kingdom and create Europe's newest country since the collapse of Yugoslavia.
After many months of campaigning, final opinion polls show the referendum result is too close to call. Results are expected on Friday.
