Jimmy John's data breach includes 12 stores in Minnesota

Jimmy John's is the latest retailer affected by a data security breach.

The Illinois-based sandwich chain says customer data may have been stolen from about 200 stores, including 12 in Minnesota.

Jimmy John's says it appears that a hacker nabbed customers' credit and debit card data between June 16 and September 5.

The company said it has contained the data breach and taken steps to prevent future data thefts, including installing encrypted swipe machines in its stores.

Stores in St. Louis Park, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, Roseville, St. Paul, Willmar, White Bear Lake, Detroit Lakes, Golden Valley and Burnsville were among those affected by the breach.

Jimmy John's is offering identity protection services to customers whose information was taken. Big name retailers such as Home Depot and Target have also reported data breaches over the past year.

Jimmy John's could not be reached immediately for further comment.
