A look at how Minnesota police use military equipment

The Minneapolis Police Department plans to return nearly $180,000

MPR News' Curtis Gilbert reported earlier this week:

Police officials have planned to return the equipment since last year, when the department budgeted money to begin replacing its arsenal of assault rifles. [Assistant Police Chief Matt Clark] said the plan had nothing to do with the national debate over the militarization of police departments sparked by last month's riots in Ferguson, Missouri.

Andy Skoogman, executive director of the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, spoke with Tom Crann about the use of military equipment by law enforcement in Minnesota.
