Today's Morning Edition music is from Jerry Lee Lewis with one of his country hits "Thirty Nine and Holding." The Killer celebrates his 79th birthday today.

There are many stories that have been told about Jerry Lee over the years. One is that while he was celebrating his 41st birthday he tried to shoot a pop bottle with a handgun. He missed the bottle. Instead, he hit bass player Norman Owens in the chest twice. Owens made a full recovery.

Let's hope The Killer includes his take on that incident in the first authorized biography of his life. The book is due out in late October.
