Andover girls found in Burnsville after 'grave concerns' lead to search

Updated at 8 a.m. Wednesday

Two 13-year-old-girls from Andover were found Tuesday morning in Burnsville after they went missing Monday night. A 23-year-old male is in custody.

The two were last seen about 7:45 p.m. on Monday. The initial investigation generated "grave concerns" for the girls' safety, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said early Tuesday morning as it sought the public's help in the search .

About an hour later, authorities said the girls had been found but offered no details other than to say that the girls, who were neighbors, were with an adult male who was taken into custody in connection with the case.

Earlier, the sheriff's office said it acted after discovering "disturbing conversations" in texts and on social media.

The incident remains under investigation, Anoka sheriff's office spokesman Cmdr. Paul Sommer said.
