Minnesota Viking star running back Adrian Peterson will be in arraigned in Texas on Wednesday on child abuse charges.

Update Oct. 8: Peterson faces Dec. 1 trial in Texas

Peterson was indicted last month for felony injury to a child by a grand jury in Montgomery County, just north of Houston. He was alleged to have beaten his 4-year-old son with a stick, injuring the boy, during a visit to Peterson's home in May.

Peterson was initially deactivated by the Vikings, and did not play in the team's home opener against the New England Patriots on Sept. 14. The team reinstated him the next day, but reconsidered and put him on a league exemption list. He is being paid while he awaits resolution of the matter.

Prosecutors say it could be next year before the case goes to a trial, if it isn't settled with a plea agreement or other deal sooner.
