— one year before The Monkees recorded its popular version.

Paul Revere Dick, which was his given name, died this week at the age of 76. He founded Paul Revere & the Raiders in his hometown of Boise, Idaho, and played the organ in the band. 

Paul Revere & the Raiders were known for wearing Colonial-style uniforms and coordinated dancing. The band had five top 10 hit songs.

Today's Morning Edition music is from the song "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone" by Paul Revere and the Raiders which was released in 1966, before the Monkees recorded their hit version of the song. We are playing it in honor of Paul Revere Dick, which was his real name, who died this week at the age of 76. He founded Paul Revere and the Raiders in his hometown of Boise, Idaho and played the organ in the band.  Paul Revere and the Raiders were known for wearing Colonial-style uniforms and their coordinated dance moves onstage.  They had five top ten hit songs.
