After an assault on two women downtown, Minneapolis issues crime alert

Minneapolis police issued a crime alert after two women were assaulted in two separate incidents in a parking ramp downtown on Tuesday afternoon.

The assaults happened in parking Ramp C on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North.

The first assault occurred around 2 p.m. after a man asked the victim for a dollar. When she refused, he forced her between two cars. The suspect was scared away after someone exited a nearby elevator. The same suspect forced another woman into her car at the same location at around 4:40 p.m. Police said he assaulted her and then fled.

Police describe the suspect as a slender, light-skinned black male in his 20s. They say he is six-feet-tall and has short, curly hair and possibly light facial hair. He was wearing baggie jeans and a dull leather coat during the first assault. During the second assault, he was wearing a plaid shirt.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to text 847 411 (tip 411) and enter MPD and the tip, or to call the tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
