A Blue Line train hit a pedestrian near the Franklin Avenue station Thursday morning in Minneapolis.

The woman was hit while the train was entering the station shortly before 9 a.m. She was was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr said.

The train driver is on standard administrative leave as Metro Transit investigates the accident, Kerr added.

"As far as we can tell the operator did what they could to respond to the situation," Kerr said. "All the warning devices were functioning as they should have been."

Buses replaced trains for part of the Blue Line route but train service was restored shortly after.

No injuries were reported on the train.
