The Survivors: Portraits Of Liberians Who Recovere

The Ebola virus has a 70 percent mortality rate, according to the World Health Organization. And, the current outbreak has killed more than 4,400 people in West Africa.

However, there are survivors and those individuals develop immunity to the strain that sickened them. Dr. Kent Brantly, perhaps the most well known Ebola survivor, has donated the plasma in his blood to three patients in the last month.

Getty photographer John Moore created a collection of portraits of Ebola survivors outside several treatment centers in or near Monrovia, Liberia. Survivors said they often face a difficult stigma of having had Ebola. "Nobody will even let me draw water from the community well," said one woman.
