The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis will pay about 80 staff members for the two weeks they were furloughed this year.

The theater's full-time non-union staff will be paid at regular rates for the time off, said Trish Santini, the Guthrie's director of external relations. The theater announced the furloughs in January when the building was closed to the public for repairs and maintenance.

Guthrie leaders decided on spending cuts, including the furloughs, late last year, Santini said. Repaying the furloughed staff was a top priority as theater revenue came in.

The theater isn't disclosing how much total back pay it's doling out. It will report its financials at a Dec. 15 meeting.
