Maplewood asks for FBI probe into 'city operations'
The FBI is investigating the city of Maplewood at the city's request.
Police Chief Paul Schnell said his department recently asked for a federal inquiry into "city operations." He declined to elaborate, citing the ongoing investigation.
"We don't know what the scope or focus of this may ultimately end up being," he said.
Schnell said it's unclear how long the investigation could last.
Kyle Loven, a spokesman for the FBI's Minneapolis division, said he couldn't confirm or deny that any investigation is underway.
