Today's Morning Edition music features the latest record by jazz vocalist and Minneapolis native Connie Evingson. A CD release concert is set for tonight at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. 

On Evingson's latest record she teams up with the John Jorgenson Gypsy Jazz Quintet. And, on one song she is joined by a jazz vocal legend Jon Hendricks. The 93-year-old is one of the creators of "vocalese," the art of adding words to instrumental jazz pieces. He's also considered a master scat singer.

Today's Morning Edition music is from a new CD.  There will be a CD release concert tonight at the Dakota Jazz club in Minneapolis for the latest record by jazz vocalist Connie Evingson.  This time, the Minneapolis native is backed up by the John Jorgenson Quintet.  On one song she is also joined by a jazz vocal legend, 93-year-old Jon Hendricks.
